COMPANY HISTORY
The Genesis of a Golfing Paradise
In 1968, as golf’s popularity surged, visionary Dr. Thaworn Phornprapha, the founder of Siam Motors Co., Ltd. envisioned a world-class golf course that would not only elevate the sport in Thailand but also attract international attention.
With encouragement and support from his Japanese acquaintances and prominent Thai business figures, the project was set to become a proud landmark of golf that attracts both local and international golfers.
Pattaya was selected as the ideal setting for this project, for Its stunning natural beauty, coupled with its burgeoning status as an industrial and recreational hub.
On 31 May 1968, the construction commenced under the design of renowned Japanese golf course architect, Mr. I. Izumi. A dedicated team of Thai professionals brought the design to life, ensuring that every detail met the international standards.
Siam Country Club’s Old Course officially opened its doors on 1 March 1971, marking a significant milestone in Thai golfing history.
From the outset, the club sought to showcase the sport’s profile in Thailand, as well as fostering a new generation of golfers and attracting international tournaments. The club aims to provide a world-class golfing experience for the first generation of its members and their families.
